Rebecca White, violin

Rebecca commenced violin lessons at the age of 8 with Graham Wood, O.A.M., and piano lessons with her mother. After a successful audition, she was accepted into the W.A. Conservatorium of Music at 15 years as an early age student. She studied with with Peter Exton.
Rebecca won many awards during her time at the Conservatorium and became a casual member of the WA Symphony Orchestra at age 17. She has performed as a soloist with the WA Symphony orchestra on two occasions as part of the Young Artists Programme. In 2000 she performed solo for Rolf Harris and later the same year performed for the Queen, as a member of Ensemble Archangelo.
2002 and 2003 saw Rebecca move to Melbourne to take up a full time scholarship at the Australian National Academy of Music. In April 2002, she travelled to Brussels to take part in the International Festival ‘MUSICI ARTIS’. She played the Brahms Violin Concerto with the Russian Philharmonic Orchestra from Nizhny-Novogod. In August 2002 and 2003 Rebecca was again chosen to travel with the Australian National Academy to Salzburg to take part in the International Mozarteum Summer Academy where she studied in the studio of Prof. Shmuel Ahkenarsi. At the end of 2003 Rebecca received an offer from the Eastman School of Music to study for a Masters degree in Performance with Prof Oleh Krysa.
Since finishing at the National Academy, Rebecca has been a freelance violinist and a member of the piano trio, Trinity. Trinity competed in the Melbourne National Chamber Music Competition in July 2005 and in 2006 travelled to the USA to take up a full scholarship at the Norfolk Chamber Music Summer School.
In July of 2009 Rebecca was awarded a Churchill Fellowship for intensive violin tuition (Feb-June 2010) with Professor Oleh Krysa at the Eastman School of Music-Rochester, New York. She is currently a full time member of the West Australian Symphony Orchestra as well as violinist in the piano trio 'Spinifex' and in the Pinnacle String Quartet. She is concertmaster of the Fremantle Chamber Orchestra and regularly performs throughout Western Australia as a soloist, chamber and orchestral musician. As well as being a soloist with the Russian orchestra from Ninzy-Novogod in 2002, she has been a soloist with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra in the string finals of the ABC Young Performers Awards (2004) and the Fremantle Chamber Orchestra (2006, 2008).
She has studied Graham Wood O.A.M, Peter Exton, (long term) and short term study with Oleh Krysa, John Harding, Rudolf Koelman, Shmuel Ashkenasi, Jan Sedivka, Michael Golschlager, Alexander Ballie, David Strange, Tacaks String Quartet, Tokyo String Quartet, Australian String Quartet, Boris Berman, Keller String Quartet and Antoinette Van Zabner.
